We are proud to announce that Prof. Dr. Danijel Pavlović, Director of the Academy of Hospitality, Tourism and Wellness, successfully represented our institution at the prestigious 16th International Religious Tourism and Pilgrimage (IRTP) Conference, held from June 25 to 28, 2025, at the University of Palermo, Sicily, Italy.

The conference was organized in cooperation with the International Institute for Religious Tourism and Pilgrimage (IRTP) and the Observatory on Tourism for Islands Economy (OTIE), bringing together leading global experts in the fields of religious tourism, pilgrimage, and sustainable development. Key topics included modern challenges in religious tourism, with special emphasis on sustainability, digitalization, and cultural heritage preservation.

Prof. Pavlović had the honor of serving as the moderator of the opening session, leading discussions among international participants and fostering a valuable exchange of ideas and experiences.

As part of the academic program, he delivered a well-received presentation titled Tumane Monastery as a Contemporary Center of Spirituality, Religious Tourism, and Pilgrimage Practices. Through a multidisciplinary approach, he highlighted the monastery’s significance—deeply rooted in Orthodox tradition—as a growing destination not only for spiritual enrichment but also for cultural-historical importance and local development.

At the official closing ceremony of the conference, Prof. Pavlović announced that the TPF Conference will be held in Serbia for the first time in 2026, organized by the Academy of Hospitality, Tourism, and Wellness.

This decision is a major recognition for both our institution and Serbia’s academic and tourism sectors. The Academy of HTW will host one of the world’s most important events in the field of tourism, further strengthening our position on the global academic map.
